Company News

BHP Billiton has completed the sale of its 8.33% interest in the East Browse Joint Venture and 20% of the West Browse JV to Petrochina International Investment for $US1.62 billion ($A1.72 billion). The deal was first announced late last year, but the company has just received all the relevant documents, which have been signed and finalised. BHP Billiton is no longer a part of any Browse joint ventures. (Source: Energy News Premium, 10/06/2013).

Norwest Energy and AWE are pleased to advise that DeGolyer & MacNaughton has completed the prospective resource evaluation for exploration permit EP 413, which contains the Arrowsmith 2 exploration well. The report provides a best estimate for total EP 413 gross unconventional prospective resources of 450 million boe, including 2.6 tcf of gas. IPB Petroleum is pleased to announce that an independent review by ISIS Petroleum Consultants of the M.australis oil play in WA-485-P has resulted in an increase to the Company’s mean prospective resources by 160 mmbbls of oil totalling approximately 670 mmbbls. IPB commissioned ISIS to perform an independent assessment of the resources attributable to the interpreted extension of the WA-424-P M.australis oil play into WA-485-P. Central Petroleum’s board has approved the first stage of development of the Surprise discovery. The approval followed 6 months of detailed and external studies which concluded that Surprise West should be developed independently of Surprise East. The first stage of the western development will take around 3 months and will involve the re-entry of Surprise 1, for pump installation and installation of a production facility to increase capacity to 5,000 barrels of oil storage, with 2,000 barrels of water separation. Central said it would proceed with the development of Surprise East depending on the outcome of farm-out discussions. (Source: Central Petroleum announcement, 04/06/2013).

BP has secured a rig for its exploration work in the Great Australian Bight. BP has entered a three year drilling contract with Diamond Offshore Drilling. As a result, Diamond has hired Hyundai Heavy Industries to build a Moss CS60E harsh environment semi-submersible rig. The rig is expected to be delivered after November 2015. The Commonwealth Government
and Northern Territory Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the exploration and timely development of offshore and onshore gas resources. Its objectives are to: ensure long term secure gas supply for the Northern Territory; reduce the risks associated with gas supply security in the Northern Territory due to exploration and development not meeting demand; and to encourage competition between gas suppliers for the benefit of consumers. Oil Basins has executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Green Rock Energy for the acquisition of 100% of the equity of Green Rock subsidiary Green Rock Canning Basin P/L. Under the deal, Oil Basins will give Green Rock 25 million Oil Basins shares, nominally issued at 2c per share (escrowed for three calendar months) and nominal adjustments of existing and future cash calls will result in a final payment of about $39,000 to Oil Basins. Formal agreement and settlement is expected on or about 20/06/2013. This transfer and assignment back to Oil Basins is subject to requisite shareholder approvals. When the dealing is done, Oil Basins will hold a 100% beneficial interest in the Backreef Area. (Source: Oil Basins announcement, 14/06/2013).

Developments

Santos has advised that oil production has started ahead of schedule from the Fletcher Finucane Oil Field in the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia. Fletcher Finucane is projected to have an average gross production rate of 15,000 bopd for the first 12 months of production. The project has proved and probable reserves of 14 million barrels of oil and consists of three wells being tied back to the Mutineer Exeter floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. Emerson Process Management has been awarded a $US67 million contract by Chevron to provide control valves and valve actuators to the Gorgon Project. The equipment will be used to ensure the safe flow of gas from the Gorgon Project. Emerson is providing the majority of control and shutdown valves for the project, which includes more than 1,000 control valves, actuators, and valve controllers. Kentz Corporation has won an $104 million contract for work at the INPEX Ichthys LNG Project in Darwin. The company will supply an underground electrical and instrumentation package as part of the main civil works for the onshore facility. The contract will last about 17 months from mobilisation to final handover in the final quarter of 2014. (Source: Energy News Bulletin, 12/06/2013).

INPEX has secured two vessels which will deliver LNG from Western Australia’s Ichthys LNG Project to Japan and Taiwan. INPEX Shipping, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, will co-own one of the vessels with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (the K-Line). Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will build the carrier and will be operated by Ocean Breeze LNG Transport. It will be capable of off-taking 900,000 tonnes per annum of LNG from Ichthys. The second vessel will be operated by K Line. (Source: Energy News Bulletin, 06/06/2013).

LNG Limited has been granted a further extension of a site agreement for the Gladstone Fisherman’s Landing LNG Project, with the Port Authority agreeing to extend the agreement out to 30/06/2014. LNG Ltd already has a long-term site lease at Fisherman’s Landing, which includes a lease term of 25 years plus two five year extension options. However, it is believed the site lease deal with the port is conditional upon LNG Ltd proving it has a reliable gas supply for a 3 million tonne per annum LNG project. It is continuing to talk to PetroChina about a tolling agreement for gas owned by PetroChina to feed the first train of the project. (Source: Energy News Premium, 03/06/2013).

Empire Oil & Gas delivered first gas into the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) from its Red Gully Gas and Condensate Processing Facility on 07/06/2013. The gas processing section of the facility is fully operational and has achieved ‘Sales Gas’ quality as specified for entry into the DBNGP for supply to Alcoa of Australia. Discoveries

Beach Energy and Cooper Energy’s Callawonga 8 well in the Cooper Basin has encountered a 7 metre gross oil column in the McKinlay Member and Namur Sandstone. The well has been cased and suspended for future oil production. (Source: Cooper Energy announcement, 23/05/2013).

Beach Energy and Drillsearch Energy have discovered a 6 metre gross oil column at Sceale 1 in the Namur Sandstone and McKinlay Member, and tested at a rate of 830 bopd from the McKinlay zone. The well has been cased and suspended for completion as a future oil producer. (Source: Beach Energy announcement, 05/06/2013).

The PEL 91 joint venture has had success at the Bauer 10 development well. Bauer 10 intersected an 11 metre oil column in the McKinlay Namur interval and has been cased and suspended as a future oil producer. (Source: Beach Energy announcement, 05/06/2013).

Senex Energy has completed the fracture stimulation of five zones in the Paning 2 unconventional gas exploration well located in the northern Cooper Basin. Gas flowed from the Toolachee Coal, with a four day average of 90,000 cfd from the coal. Results indicate that the gas, free from water, was sourced from a 28 metre thick Toolachee coal, with an estimated 2.1 tcf of gas in place across the Paning structure.  The two fracture stimulations in each one of the Epsilon and Patchawarra formations tapped by the well were water-saturated. The well remains suspended pending further analysis and estimation of contingent resources. (Source: Senex Energy announcement, 05/06/2013).

Beach Energy has had further success at the Congony 1 exploration well in PEL 91 of the Cooper Basin. The well encountered a gross oil column of approximately 6 meters in the McKinlay/Namur interval. A subsequent test of the McKinlay zone resulted in the recovery of 41 barrels of clean oil. The well has been cased and suspended as a future oil producer. Permit Updates and Changes

New South Wales

In the Surat/Bowen Basin, PEL 427 has undergone a partial relinquishment and now covers a reduced area of 5,768 sq km.

In the Surat Basin, the correct expiry date for PEL 434 is 13/12/2016.

In the Sydney Basin, PEL 442 has been renewed to 26/02/2016 with no reduction in area.

In the Eromanga Basin, PEL 444 has been renewed to 11/07/2015 with no reduction in area.

In the Sydney Basin, the partial relinquishment for PEL 460 has been finalised and the licence now covers a reduced area of 3,533 sq km.

In the Murray Basin/Numurkah Trough, Petro Tech P/L 100% has applied for PELA 146 over 5,341 sq km.

Geothermal

In the Barka Basin, EL 8065 has been reduced in area to exclude National Parks and now covers 13,306 sq km. NSW Geothermal titles are granted under the 92 Mining Act and National Parks are carved out of them.  Petroleum titles are issued under the Petroleum (Onshore) Act 1991 and national parks are excluded by condition.


Northern Territory

On the Ashmore Platform, the year 4 work program for AC/P 22 is now - Year 4: geotechnical studies $0.15m.

In the Vulcan Basin, the Year 4 work program for AC/P 4 has been extended by 6 months from 23/06/2013 to 23/12/2013. The licence has had its expiry date extended to 23/12/2014.

On the Ashmore Platform, Finder Exploration P/L and Perenco (SE Australia) P/L have transferred their interests in AC/P 44 to Finder No 10 P/L. The year 6 work program has also changed and is now - Year 6: geochemical seabed sampling, geotechnical studies $0.37m.

On the Ashmore Platform, Finder Exploration P/L and Perenco (SE Australia) P/L have transferred their interests in AC/P 45 to Finder No 11 P/L. The year 6 work program has also changed and is now - Year 6: geochemical seabed sampling, geotechnical studies $0.48m.

In the Bonaparte Basin, the area of NT/P 61 has been reduced due to the grant of NT/RL 6. NT/P 61 now covers 1,356 sq km.

In the Money Shoal Basin, NT/P 73 has been renewed over a reduced area of 508 sq km. The licence expires 30/05/2018. Work program is as follows -

Year 1: geotechnical studies, obtain Caldita 3D seismic field tapes $0.1m
Year 2: 260 sq km seismic reprocessing $0.3m
Year 3: seismic interpretation $0.15m
Year 4: geotechnical studies & well planning $0.2m

In the Bonaparte Basin, the year 5 work program for NT/P 76 has been extended by 6 months from 27/03/2013 to 27/09/2013. The licence has had its expiry date extended to 27/09/2014. Furthermore, the year 5 work program has been varied and is now - Year 5: geotechnical studies, trap analysis & drill site selection $.1.95m.

In the Bonaparte Basin, NT/P 61 L (Caldita location) has been granted as NT/RL 6 on 26/04/2013. The licence will expire 19/05/2018.

In the Georgina Basin, PetroFrontier Corp and Statoil Australia Oil & Gas have amended the existing farmin agreement, with up to the next US$160 million of exploration costs to be fully funded by Statoil over three phases to the end of 2016, in return for 80% of PetroFrontier's working interest in EP 103, EP 104, EP 127, EP 128, EP(A) 213 and EP(A) 252. Statoil will also become the operator effective 01/09/2013.

In the Georgina Basin, EP 144 has been granted to Conarco Minerals P/L 100% on 21/05/2013. The licence will expire on 20/05/2018.

In the Georgina Basin, EP 301 has been granted to Tom Oates 100% on 15/05/2013. The licence will expire on 14/05/2018.

In the Birrindudu Basin, EP(A) 228 and EP(A) 265 have been varied and now cover 9,315 sq km and 14,949 sq km respectively.

In the Georgina Basin, EP(A) 261 has been varied and now covers 2,888 sq km.

In the Arunta Basin, EP(A) 276 has been varied and now covers 13,685 sq km.

In the Georgina Basin, Territory Gas Aust P/L 100% has applied for EP(A) 315 over 18 sq km.

In the Victoria River Basin, Tamboran Resources P/L have applied for EP(A) 316 and EP(A) 317 over 1,524 sq km and 11,417 sq km respectively
.


Queensland

In the Eromanga Basin, Drillsearch has decided not to accept either bid for the sale of its ATP 299P (and associated PL interests) and has no further plans for their sale.

Also in the Eromanga Basin, ATP 549P now covers a reduced area:  ATP 549P Cypress (231 sq km), 549P Solitaire (1,144 sq km) and 549P West (462 sq km).

In the Bowen Basin, ATP 655P was renewed to 31/10/2015.  The work program was approved on 30/04/2013 for a period commencing on 01/11/2011.  Work program is as follows -

Year 1: 25 km 2D seismic, G&G & engineering studies
Year 2: 1 well (100m), G&G & engineering studies
Year 3: 1 well (1000m), G&G & engineering studies
Year 4: G&G & engineering studies

In the Eromanga Basin, Beach Energy will acquire 50% of ATP 732P from Bengal Energy by funding 100% of an oil exploration program (up to a cap) which includes 2 wells and approximately 300 sq km of 3D seismic. At the end of the farm-in program, Beach will have the right to be appointed operator.  The deal is subject to completion of necessary documentation and due diligence.

Also in the Eromanga Basin, Senex has reached agreement to sell its 15% interest in PL 303, 15% interest in ATP 752P Barta and 17.5% interest in ATP 752P Wompi for $20 million.  The sale is subject to pre-emption rights and customary approvals.

In the Eromanga Basin, ATP 783P was granted to Drillsearch Energy Ltd 100% on 09/05/2013.  The licence will expire on 08/05/2017.  Drillsearch Energy holds 100% of the licence after Santos terminated its farm-in agreement with Drillsearch. Drillsearch has no further plans to sell its interest in the licence.

In the Georgina Basin, Central Petroleum has completed the ATP 909P, ATP 911P and ATP 912P farm-out transactions with Total and has transferred a 10% interest to Total GLNG Australia.  Total has the right to earn up to 68% in three stages.

In the Eromanga and Galilee Basins, preferred tenderer Exoma has withdrawn the following applications:  ATP 1127P, ATP 1130P, ATP 1137P and ATP 1150P
.

In the Surat Basin, PLR 2012-1-2 was granted as ATP 1178P to Australia Pacific LNG P/L 100% on 02/05/2013.  The licence will expire on 01/05/2017.

In the Surat Basin, Southern Cross Petroleum & Exploration P/L now holds 100% of both Upper and Lower Stratums of PL 17 after Santos withdrew.

In the Surat Basin, production licence PL 266 was granted on 02/05/2013 to Australia Pacific LNG 100%.  The licence will expire on 01/05/2034.  As a result, ATP 702P has ceased to exist.

In the Bowen Basin, CH4 P/L 70% and Arrow CSG (ATP 364) P/L 30% have applied for production licences PL 489 and PL 490 over 35 sq km and 89 sq km respectively.  In addition, correct interests in PL 487 and PL 488 are the same as for PL 489 and PL 490
.


South Australia

In the Cooper Basin, the suspension of the licence (dated 11/05/2012) for PEL 103 has resumed and the licence will be suspended from 27/03/2013 to 10/11/2013. The licence has had its expiry date extended to 28/01/2015.

In the Cooper Basin, Orca Energy is selling its 20% interest in PEL 115 to Senex Energy in exchange for a package of benefits worth around $7 million. Orca will retain its 20% interest in the Fury oil discovery and the Burruna 1 oil well. The parties will apply for a separate licence for the Fury and Burruna blocks and will operate under the terms of existing PEL 115 joint venture. Furthermore, Senex has agreed to relinquish its 19.99% interest in Orca and reimburse Orca for its share of the
work on the Kingston Rule 1 and Hornet 1. The deal is subject to a number of approvals.

In the Arckaringa Basin, the year 5 work program for PEL 123 has been extended by 12 months from 02/10/2013 to 01/10/2014. The licence has had its expiry date extended to 01/10/2014.

In the Simpson and Eromanga Basins, PEL 288, PEL 289, PEL 290 and PEL 331 have been granted to Stuart Petroleum P/L 100% on 01/06/2013. The licenses will expire on 31/05/2018. The year 1 work programs for the licenses have been extended by 12 months from 02/06/2013 to 01/06/2014.The licenses have had their expiry dates extended to 31/05/2019. Work programs are as follows -

Year 1: G&G studies
Year 2: G&G studies
Year 3: 300 km 2D seismic
Year 4: 100 sq km 3D seismic
Year 5: 1 well

In the Otway Basin, OT2012-A is under application as PELA 629 by NP Oil and Gas Holdings Ltd 100%.

In the Cooper Basin, CO2012-A is under application as PELA 630 by Bridgeport Energy Ltd 100%.

In the Pirie-Torrens Basin, NAVGAS P/L has applied for PELA 631 over 5,270 sq km.

In the Cooper Basin, PRL 15 has been renewed to 05/05/2018.

In the Cooper Basin, the suspensions for PRL 17 and PRL 18 have ceased. The licenses are now due to expire on 17/08/2014 and 04/06/2014 respectively.

In the Otway Basin, PRL 32 has been granted to Adelaide Energy P/L 100% on 08/05/2013. The licence will expire on 07/05/2018.

Geothermal

In the Cooper Basin, the year 4 work programs for GEL 267, GEL 269 and GEL 273 have been extended by 12 months from 03/06/2013 to 02/06/2014. The licenses have had their expiry dates extended to 22/05/2016.

In the Cooper Basin, GEL 268 is being renewed.

In the Cooper Basin, the year 4 work programs for GEL 316, GEL 317 and GEL 320 have been extended by 12 months from 01/06/2013 to 31/05/2014. The licenses have had their expiry dates extended to 01/06/2016.

In the Cooper Basin, GEL 526 and GEL 527 have been surrendered.

In the Otway Basin, GEL 611 was granted to Osiris Energy Ltd 100% on 22/04/2013. The licence will expire on 21/07/2018.

Sequestration

In the Eromanga Basin, GSEL 612- GSEL 625 have been granted to Stuart Petroleum P/L 100% on 1/06/2013. The licenses will expire on 31/05/2018. The year 1 work program for the licenses have been extended by 12 months from 02/06/2013 to 01/06/2014.The licenses have had their expiry dates extended to 31/05/2019. Work programs for the licenses are as follows -

Tasmania

In the Canning and Perth Basins, L 12-12, L 12-13 and L 12-14 did not receive any bids. The areas have reverted to vacant acreage.

In the Carnarvon and Barrow Basins, Tap (Shelfal) P/L is farming out 7% interest in WA-155-P (2) and 10% interest in WA-320-P to JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Australia) P/L in exchange for a 5% carry on the Palmerston well (up to a total well cost of US$70 million). The transaction is subject to FIRB and other approvals.

In the Carnarvon Basin, the year 5 work program for WA-208-P is now - Year 5: 560 sq km 3D seismic, rock physics & AVA studies, seismic interpretation $0.7m.

In the Dampier Basin, the Okapi block in WA-209-P is Hydra Energy (WA) P/L 100%.

In the Carnarvon Basin, the work program for WA-253-P is pending suspension.

In the Barrow Basin, Tap (Shelfal) P/L has transferred their interest in WA-290-P to Tap (Zola) P/L.

In the Petrel Sub Basin, the year 5 work program for WA-313-P has been extended by 12 months from 16/06/2013 to 15/06/2014. The licence has had its expiry date extended to 15/06/2014.

In the Browse Basin, a location has been granted over Cornea at WA-342-P on 06/06/2013.

In the Carnarvon Basin, Tap (Shelfal) P/L has transferred their interest in WA-351-P to Tap (SCB) P/L.

In the Carnarvon Basin, the Brederode location at WA-364-P has been extended to 13/06/2015. A location has also been granted over Eendracht on 16/06/2013.

In the Carnarvon Basin, the Kentish Knock, Scarborough and Thebe locations at WA-365-P have been extended to 13/06/2015.

In the Carnarvon Basin, WA-383-P has been renewed over a reduced area of 2,098 sq km. The licence will expire 23/05/2018. Work program is as follows -

In the Officer Basin, gazettal L 12-5 is under application as STP-EPA-76 by Liberty Petroleum Corporation.


New Zealand

In the East Coast Basin, gazettal areas 13EC1 and 13EC2 have been varied and now cover 429 sq km and 890 sq km respectively.

In the New Caledonia Basin, Energy Holdings Offshore Limited 50% (operator) and CNOOC International Limited 50% have applied for APP 55377 over 147,160 sq km.

In the Southland Basin, PEP 38220 has been renewed to 10/11/2015.

In the West Coast Basin, PEP 38512 has been renewed to 25/01/2016.

In the West Coast Basin, PMP 50100 has undergone a partial relinquishment and now covers 140 sq km.

In the Taranaki Basin, Contact Energy Ltd has applied for extension of land application PMP 52278 EX

Papua New Guinea

In the Papuan Basin, Total’s interest in PPL 244 is held by Total E&P PNG 4 BV.

Also in the Papuan Basin, a seismic program is underway in PPL 338 as part of the Oil Search farm-in option.  Subject to the results of the seismic, Oil Search will decide whether to take up equity and drill a well.

Kina Petroleum has entered into a non-binding farm-out term sheet in relation to PPL 340. Further details are yet to be made available.

In the Papuan Basin, PPL 402 will expire on 26/03/2108.

Also in the Papuan Basin, InterOil and Pacific LNG have entered into negotiations to sell an interest in PRL 15 to ExxonMobil Papua New Guinea Ltd
